Catherine Bailey is an award-winning children’s author born and raised in sunny Florida. Her recent books include Good Morning Man Street (Union Square, 2025), Goodnight School (Union Square, 2024), Dinos Don't Meditate (Sounds True, 2023), Hustle Bustle Bugs (LLBYR, 2022), and Harbor Bound (Disney/Hyperion, 2019)—with more on the way. She’s also written for popular children’s magazines such as Highlight’s Hello and Babybug. Catherine is a frequent children’s speaker and has visited hundreds (and hundreds, and hundreds!) of kids at schools, libraries, stores, and special events. Her writing accolades include book awards from FAPA, IPPY, Best Book, and Moonbeam, as well as excellent reviews from Kirkus and the School Library Journal.
Catherine’s writing career began early—very early—with a family newsletter (which, in hindsight was primarily a means of tattling on her older sister). Her love of books was cemented when she met Bunnicula author James Howe on a school field trip to the Clearwater Public Library. However, Catherine made a few detours on the way to becoming a professional author herself. Some of her more adventurous jobs included interning at the Cartoon Network and working overseas on sailboats. Catherine then graduated law school and became a research attorney where she created content for scholarly publications and websites. Nowadays Catherine enjoys creating books for children from her home on the Treasure Coast. When Catherine is not writing, or editing, or swatting at mosquitos, she looks after her husband and two children. All three of them are quite sticky, and none like bedtime, but she loves them anyway. Her hobbies include reading, traveling, and design. Oh, and snacking! But mostly reading.
